Ominous skies were order of the day. I spoke to a local gentleman who told me a little about the myth of Urtzi. He is supposedly the Basque sky god and is represented as the lauburu, with four heads in a swastica like formation. I wonder if this is where the Basque symbol comes from?I read an interesting article on cafe culture in France. In 1960 there were some 200,000 cafes in France, this year there are c41,500. If the French are unable to retain the culture of sitting around, smoking and chatting idly, what hope for the rest of us?
